Rubber band SEO

In a recent Web 2.0 Summit held in San Francisco, Sean Parker talked about how marketing an up and coming website is a lot like pulling back a rubber band and then letting it fly.

This couldn’t be more true when discussing your site’s SEO.

Methodically making posts that contain the same, niched keywords will show up in search engine rankings after you have been adding content for a long time. This can be frustrating because you may not be seeing the results that you hoped for when you are first starting out. I have spoken with various people who go through the exact same frustration and deal with it different ways. After I saw this interview with Mr. Parker, I thought I would write a blog post about it because I thought it was a clever metaphor and many people reading this post probably feel the same way.

Take this article for example. If I started a website and posted this article by itself it would not receive any attention from any of the search engines. But since we have been blogging for quite a while at SeeVolution, our posts sometimes pop up on Google. Admittedly we are not quite where we would like to be, but hey, who is these days?

If you decide to start adding content to help increase your site’s SEO the old fashioned way, remember to stay the course, and don’t quit. If you do, all your work will have been for not.  Stay focused, stay hungry, and eventually your site will climb up in the rankings.

Slow and steady wins the race.
